We are very excited to be able to add Omega 3 DHA ester concentrate to our product range. This product is refined from the flesh of Hoki fish which are a cold water species native to New Zealand's pristine southern oceans. These fish have a naturally high level of DHA, (Docosahexaenoic Acid), in their oil which is enhanced by low temperature molecular thin film distillation to product a level of Omega 3s over 40% with a DHA level over 25%. This also ensures that there is no possibility of contamination which is a problem with other types of Omega 3 oil. Omega 3 DHA ester concentrate InformationOmega 3 essential fatty acids (EFA) have long been recognised for their significant health benefits. Clinical studies have determined that the main benefits are derived from DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and to a lesser extent EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid). Only fish oils provide DHA and EPA in a natural form that your body can easily use. Omega 3's from other sources such as plants, ie flax seed oil, don't contain DHA and EPA directly, your body has to convert them, and if you are elderly or ill your body may not have the resources to do this. Plant oils also have Omega 6 in them and the Western diet already contains to much of this. The ideal diet contains a balance of 3's and 6's. Therefore what we all need in our diet is fish oil containing an easily accessible DHA and to a lesser extent EPA component. However many fish oils from the northern hemisphere contain high levels of contaminants such as PCB's and heavy metals such as mercury, the oils are shipped in bulk with additives to stop them going rancid and they have inherently low levels of DHA. Researches in New Zealand have come up with a fish oil extracted from the Hoki fish (Macruronus novaezealandiae), which has a naturally high level of DHA in their oil which is enhanced by low temperature molecular thin film distillation to product a level of Omega 3s over 40% with a DHA level over 25%. This also ensures that there is no possibility of contamination which is a problem with other types of Omega 3 oil. Refining the oil to an ester increases the bio-availability. Constituents of Omega 3's.Omega-3 is the name given to a family of polyunsaturated fatty acids or EFA's. The parent omega-3 - alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) - is described as 'essential' as, like vitamins, it must be obtained from diet. It is polyunsaturated and has 18 carbon atoms and 3 double bonds (18:3). However, for humans, the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5)and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6) - EPA and DHA - are considered much more valuable as these are the forms the body requires. In theory, humans are able to synthesise EPA and DHA from dietary ALA, but in practice this process is inefficient. Scientists have therefore concluded that EPA and DHA should be obtained from diet. Oil-rich fish and supplements such as fish oil and cod liver oil, are the richest and most readily available sources.
Uses of Omega 3'sOmega-3 fatty acids play an important role as structural membrane lipids, particularly in nerve tissue and the retina and are precursors to eicosanoids - highly reactive substances such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes that act locally to influence a wide range of functions in cells and tissues Benefits of Omega 3'sMany studies have been conducted on the benefits of Omega 3's, chief among them are
The American Heart Association has stated that Omega 3's
Researchers at Tufts University in Boston measured the fatty acid levels in blood samples obtained from 1137 men and women, with an average age of 75, who were part of the Framingham Heart Study. The subjects' diets were assessed by questionnaire and those free of dementia were followed for a mean of 10 years. During the study they were assessed for the onset of new dementia including Alzheimer's Disease. Participants who had diets rich in DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, reduced their risk of developing dementia considerably compared with those whose diets contained low amounts of DHA.
Suggested DosageTake two capsules a day one in the morning ,one at night, with food.
